Jenny Humphrey

Just like all of you, I am a Gossip Girl addict too. It gives me my dose of fashion and drama for the week, and keeps me wanting more and more every single time, that I download it without missing a beat.
This is one show where every character has a distinct style of dressing, that complements their role. You can connect Blair Waldorf to bows and headbands, something that inspired designers such as Zac Posen to create a whole line, Blair Waldorf style, head bands and all. Serena Van Der Woodsen walks around wearing Matthew Williamson, defining hippie-chic, her hair teased to go with it. But nevertheless, the character who really caught my eye is Jenny Humphrey. She transformed from little-miss-goody-two-shoes in Season 1 to I-have-a-distinct-style-without-caring-what-people-think-of-me-and-I-am-going-to-continue-doing-my-thing. She went from Golden candy girl, to rocker chic. In fact, Jenny Humphrey A.K.A Taylor Momsen has her own rock band in real life, so it is no surprise that she dresses like being in one too. Moreover, when magazines asked her about why she changed her look on set she said that she just started dressing like herself, actually.

As a result, I decided to pick out pieces to help you incorporate her look in your everyday style.

There Is A Happily Ever After With A Pair Of Shoes

The perfect pair of shoes are like the perfect guy, the upside being, it actually exists.
When you try one on, it doesn't matter how big your hips are, because there is always one to complement you, to make you feel beautiful. I often find myself, just like many other women, shopping for a pair of shoes, when I feel low, as it is an immediate pick-me-up even if I just gobbled down a whole tub of Ben and Jerry's cookie dough.
I know it is wrong to shop on an impulse, to get that spark of happiness, that you find speedily dies down, as soon as you pay the bill, and realize how much it is you have just spent. But, as soon as you sink your feet into those incredibly beautiful, crave-worthy, desirable shoes, all your worries seem to disappear, as they instantly push your butt up, make your legs look more toned, and those perfect ones even grab the attention away from your desperately-need-a-pedicure feet.

The Little Black Dress

Whether you’re a size 2 or a size 12, you can never go wrong with a Little Black Dress.

One of the first LBD's by Mademoiselle Coco Chanel

As I strut down the pavement, my heels clacking, I can't help but wonder, how the Little Black Dress came to be? Why does the dress sell like hotcakes, seven decades after Mademoiselle Gabrielle Bonheur “Coco" Chanel, first created in the 1920’s? What has enabled The Little Black Dress, my knight in shining amour, to remain in fashion for many decades?

So I drop everything, and trot back home to understand the Little Black Dress; the only dress in the history of fashion to appeal to different kinds of women, regardless of their age, shape, size, or what time they were born. It was the “go to” dress for a woman in the 20’s and still is in 2009. After all, the Little Black Dress that Audrey Hepburn wore in “Breakfast At Tiffany’s,” was auctioned off at Christie’s Auction House, for more than seventy thousand pounds.  You heard right, all for a dress.

The humorous thing is that although black was first considered the color of mourning, Mademoiselle Coco changed the face of black to being elegant, with just one dress. It’s cut, simplicity, and style, appeals to women all over the world.

Mademoiselle Coco Chanel

Living in a world obsessed with being slim, I found out through science that black plays with eye since it does not reflect light, in any part of the optical spectrum, its reflection is less apparent. Seeing as our eyes, tells the shape of a thing by the help of its reflection, black’s reflection blends in with the background to the human eye, making the person’s appearance seem more like a two- dimensional object, which makes the person look more flat, and as a result much slimmer.

Betsey Johnson

It is the quintessential dress that overcomes every season, although continuously reinvented; it still maintains that essence of classiness. It is so simple but yet so chic.

Lust List

Did you forget to wish your friend on her birthday? Did you wind up at her party, standing there awkwardly wondering why she was throwing this over-the-top-Paris-Hilton-wearing-too-may-diamonds-at-one-time-party?

Then you see the towering cake getting wheeled out, and Baam, you just had an epiphany, “Oh Shit! Now I know why she said ‘I am so excited, my birthday is going to be a Blast.’” And a Blast it was with her own best friend forgetting it.

Don’t worry love, we have all been there one too many times.  So, to make it up to her, buy her one, or all of these fabulous, lust worthy things from my lust list.

1.    Chanel 2.55

This beautiful bag needs no explanation.

2.   A long Valentino Red Dress

I swoon every time. Every Single time.

3.   A pair of Christian Louboutins. I have my eye on the Very PrivĂ© 120 peep-toe pumps.

Perfect remedy for a heartbreak, or any kind of break: A pair of very high Louboutins, and red lippy of course.

4.   A Herve Leger, bandage dress

It pushes all the unsightly bits in, yet it manages to hug your figure at all the right places, making you look impeccable.

5.    A Luella Maggie organza dress.

It is so pretty, and feminine. It makes me want to eat cake, now I don’t know if that is a good thing or not, but the dress sure is.

6.   A Matthew Williamson, Neon baroque jersey dress

I believe that one must never take themselves or fashion too seriously.

7.   A Matthew Williamson, Bead-embellished swimsuit

It defines the perfect swimsuit.

8.   A Fendi, Silk crepe de Chine dress

This dress is perfect for unwinding peacefully, on Roberto Cavalli’s yacht, or yours for that matter. At the same time, it allows you to look irresistible while you relax.

9.   A Marc by Marc Jacobs, Karly paillette dress

The reinvented Little Black Dress.

10.  A Tiffany locket. Or anything from Tiffany’s for that matter.

"Love is found in a little blue box at Tiffany's."

5 Things I Do Not Understand

1. Overpriced designer white Tee’s. It may come as a shock to you, me saying this, but I do not comprehend why a simple white tee is over $200. It is made out of cotton and looks and feels exactly the same, like one, less than $10 does. Is it because of it’s label, its brand value? Nobody can see the label for god's sake. As if anybody is going to peep down your back.
Wait...Do people do that? No. Do they?

2. The hype behind the Hermes Birkin. I am sorry to say this, the Birkin Brigade, but it reminds me of a bad-brifcase-like-thing-one-that-Katie-Price-may-carry-to-work-if-she-does-anything-at-all-that-is.

3. French manicured nails. They spell T-A-C-K-Y.

4. Acid Washed Denim. Don't mess with denim love, especially ones on your bottom. Total faux pas.

5. Crocs. Where do I even begin. It reminds of a frog, not the type that turns into a prince, but the one that remains as a frog.
